RICH HERITAGE OF CHANDNI CHOWK

Hey everybody!

I'm back and this time I'm going to actually be doing what I said in my last post which is to enlighten you about Chandni Chowk.
So the origin of the Chandni Chowk dates back to the Mughal era. According to legend, Chandni Chowk was established during the reign of Shahjahan. This market was designed by his favorite daughter Jahanara. The Chandni Chowk you see today symbolizes development through 3 century (that's 300 years!).

Chandni Chowk is one of the oldest existing bazaar in India today. The attraction here is that you can find almost anything in a small confine. If at one corner you find painting materials then at the next you will find saris and Kurtas. Some shops have continued for almost a century, continuously passing down from one generation to the next. A parantha at the patanthe waali gali and a jalebi at the jalebi waala couldn't have changed too much over the years. Such strenuous efforts of maintaining their trademark has only surged their popularity.
So yes, Chandni Chowk is a place which is deeply connected in the history of this nation. Even today you will find shops which have been in business for generations and you will also find shops which came up in the previous 5-10 years (selling electronics or wholesale items). I'll keep you all updated with my research.
