MYSORE PALACE ARCHITECTURE: JOURNEY FROM SCOTLAND TO INDIA

Collage of Mysore Palace and Henry Irwin
Hiiii I’m back and today I will be giving you a short insight into the architecture of Mysore Palace. šŸ˜ƒ
So basically, the architectural style of the Mysore Palace is described as a ‘hybrid’ design. Collectively, the Palace is made in a style called ‘Indo-Saracenic style (Yes, even I was as clueless as you guys are right now šŸ˜³ šŸ™ˆ)
What does the Indo-Saracenic style mean then exactly?
The Indo-Islamic style (A.K.A Indo-Saracenic) is a form of an architectural design which is formed when native Indian styles are merged with Persian styles.
Along with the Indo Saracenic form of architecture, the Mysore Palace also shows many elements of Gothic style (another vague term which gave me the hebbie-jebbiesšŸ˜)
Gothic style was synonymous with the Victorian era (yes, the queens and all that)
So to sum it all up for you, the fantabulously, magnificent domes are an element which had been borrowed from the Islamic school of architecture, the beautiful roof line of the palace (which is like a tower) has elements from the gothic school of architecture and the domed structure known as Chhatri (or umbrella for you angrez people) is from an Indian school of architecture Rajasthani to be exact)

Thank you guys so much for reading. I hope to increase your knowledge about the Mysore Palace in my next blogpost (which will be soon, so don’t bother much to miss me hehehe :$)šŸ’•
